Are You Shopping For A New Roof?

Posted on

Was the roof on your house damaged during a serious storm, maybe even during a hail storm? Or, it might be that your roof is simply old. Maybe you have already repaired your roof but now you realize that it just needs to be replaced. From selecting a tile roof to choosing stone coated steel roofing, here are some ideas that might help you.

Do Some Research - Of course, if you love the type of roof that you already have, you are more than likely going to replace it with the same type. For example, if you have a tin roof and you have been happy with it, then you will probably get another tin roof to replace it. On the other hand, you might be tired of the style roof you have presently. If that's the case, consider doing some research before you shop.

Consider driving around neighborhoods to see what kind of roof you want. For example, you might find a ranch style house that has a red tile roof on it. Or, you might see a traditional home with a turquoise shingle roof that appeals to you. Another idea is to look through home building magazines. If you do so, think of finding pictures of houses that are very similar to yours. What kind of roofs do those houses have? You might want to copy-cat one of those when you select your own roof.

Make A Choice - A tin roof is one excellent choice. Tin roofs look great on anything from a country manor type house to a ranch style home. Selecting a tin roof will more than likely be less expensive than choosing a tile roof. Shingle roofs are probably your least expensive choice. However, you might have your heart set on a slate roof or a clay tile roof. When you price those roofs the realization might come to you that you'll have to select a more affordable option.

Have you ever seen a stone coated steel roof? If so, you have probably already decided that this type of roof is your best option. If you haven't seen stone coated steel roofs in the past, you will probably be amazed at how gorgeous they are. For example, if you wanted your red tile roof but it was too expensive, a stone coated steel roof can still give you the look of a tin roof. Just select the color you want, and there are many of them. Slate roofs or a shingle roof can take on a totally new look when they have been treated with stone coating. The frosting-on-the-cake is that stone coated steel or shingle roofs will withstand inclement weather and they will last for a very long time.
